  • Food trade with Côte d'Ivoire: With a trade volume of 11.3 billion dollars, Côte d'Ivoire is the largest food market in West Africa, ahead of Nigeria with 8.9 billion dollars. According to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Côte d'Ivoire imported foodstuffs worth USD 3.1 billion and exported foodstuffs worth USD 8.2 billion in 2021. Food trade with Côte d'Ivoire is therefore worth USD 11.3 billion.
  • Food and beverages: More and more locally produced, higher quality and modern packaged fresh products, drinks, snacks and specialities are coming onto the Ivorian market. Due to the numerous start-ups in the food sector, the demand for machinery and equipment as well as ingredients and preliminary products is growing. In addition to the new companies, there is also a number of established Ivorian food producers that are continuing to invest in the expansion of local value and supply chains.

West Africa is an important market for Moroccan exporters of fresh fruit and vegetables, as the demand increases on the part of a steadily growing group of higher earning urban populations. With the entry of supermarket chains, West Africa is a promising and dynamic market. The Moroccan stand was visited by food importers wishing to supply the West African markets with Moroccan fruit and vegetables, and they asked questions about import modalities. The questions were relevant and triggered a lively discussion. Here at the fair, we found it particularly interesting to analyse the variety of products exhibited and their packaging, as well as the participation of the various countries.
